Dr. Stacey Skoning received her BSEd and MSEd
from Northern
Illinois University in Special Education. After
teaching special education in the public school system in Illinois, she received
her PhD from the University of Wisconsin
– Madison in Curriculum and Instruction. Teaching in inclusive classrooms
in WI, then provided her with a unique blend of special education and regular education training and teaching experience.
These experiences have allowed her to see the tremendous benefits of inclusive education for all students. Her work now focuses
on developing new teaching methods and strategies that better support all students within the general education setting, whether
they have disabilities or gifts and talents.
Dr. Skoning spent four years at Augustana College
in Rock Island, IL teaching Methods of Inclusion to future regular educators and now brings her skills to the University of
Wisconsin - Oshkosh. Beginning in the fall of 2007 Dr. Skoning is teaching special education methods and assessment courses
to special education majors and students seeking dual certification in general and special education. Her current research
focuses on the development of new teaching methods that are effective in fully inclusive educational settings.
Additionally,
Dr. Skoning is a board member of SEEDS in south-central Wisconsin, and engages in consulting work to further support students
with disabilities in general education classrooms.
